7 MUSTS to “Crush It” BUILDING YOUR BRAND

Spread the love

I am a member of The Ultimate Game of Life (TUG2) Mastermind Group and I have a very special friend who has written an excellent article on Building Your Brand called 7 MUSTS to “Crush It.” Her name is Cindy Melton and I feel her ideas of personal branding flow easily with attraction marketing. At the present time our group is discussing these subjects and I really felt the concepts she writes about are worth sharing with my readers! Sharing the love!

You Can Build A Brand Around What You Are Passionate About

In this report I’m going to share with you the 7 Musts to “Crush It”  Building  Your Brand, but before I do my intention first is to explain why NOW is the time to do this.

In case you haven’t noticed…our world is on a whirlwind of change. The media game has CHANGED! Technology has changed, and the way we do business is changing.

Now with social media, you can build a brand around what you are passionate about for very little cost. However, there is one major cost… otherwise known as spending time and energy working on it. Building a personal brand takes time and will not happen overnight.

The Shift in Advertising Dollars . . .

Influential people in the world are looking at how advertising dollars are being spent and how buying decisions are made by the average consumer.

Advertisers spend money where the eyeballs are at, right? Statistical data shows that more and more eyeballs are hanging out on social media sites and blogs than ever before. People are hanging out more in front of their computers than they are on TV screens.

Most people won’t even admit to exactly how much time they spend in front of the computer screen. So, if you take the time to build your personal brand around a niche now, there are advertisers that will pay you to be in front of your audience and their audience as an affiliate member.

Affiliate marketing is only one of the many income streams that will be possible.

Are you starting to see the POWER of One person?

Social media is here to stay. Companies are noticing who in the world is playing in the playground of social media and what are their  buying  preferences. Will you be a player that swings and takes action.?

In this present economy, you have an excellent opportunity to position yourself to build your personal brand. Remember when computers came out most people didn’t understand or think they needed one. Then what happened with technology? As technology evolved everyone and their mother had to have the newest and improved version.

Now, that I’ve reminisced  with you about the early years of computers, I want to share with you the 7 Musts to “Crush It” Building Your Brand. Some of the things I share will be very simple, but are necessary reminders to be ahead of your game and “crush it” when you are trying to get known.

Must #1- Be You

We have commonalities that we all share however, each person has a unique flavor to add to the recipe of life. Those commonalities vary in how a person thinks and acts, people want to feel as if they are being treated as individuals and their needs are being considered and acknowledged is a key component of the “sales process.” When you are being authentic in everything you do in business and in life you’ll bring the essence of who you are out into the spotlight of others, share your expertise, talents, and skills and SELL YOU without being salesy, pushy or fake.

In order to play with others in the playground of life you have to have certain character traits that draws people to you.

Think about it. You would not want to do business with a person that is grumpy, who fumbles with words to say, and would not have your interests at heart.

You have within you the most marketing tool around, SPEAKING!

You have the ability to shine into your own spotlight with a Signature Talk about your business in a heartfelt way that creates offers that sell.

People need and love to buy

Your ideal clients are BUYING YOU. When you have the confidence to “ASK” for business because you have clearly discussed the results your potential clients want and are looking for the conversation sells you and your programs and services effortlessly. If you’re acting like someone you’re not you will attract followers that you won’t want.

When you are being authentic with impeccable standards then you naturally shine your brilliance and you become attractable and acceptable to others, just as you are.

The irresistible conversation starts with you speaking about your brand, getting yourself out in front of others, and finding out what they’re attracted to. With this info you’ll know exactly how you should brand yourself and what you need to tweek.

But, before you can do any of this, you need to be clear about your message and create a “crush it” Signature Talk that sells.

And, that’s where my Be Marketable S.A.L.E.S Program comes in to support you in your next step. This coaching program is designed for you if:

  • You are shy and you need a step by step system for finding the right words to say to communicate your offer for the customer to hand over the credit card to.
  • You need a simple system with strategies, tips, and templates you can use over and over to market any business, product or service effortlessly.

Stay tuned for upcoming information on this program.

Must #2- Build a brand with Passion and Purpose

You have to have a “Why” that is a meaningful reason for what you do in life and business. Being able to share your secrets and mistakes with others is a strong motivation that drives your journey from success to significance.

So, you want to ask yourself… “What do I love”? “What is my passion”? What gives your heart a reason to keep beating. These questions are hard for most people because they’ve been doing things they hate for years just to please other people. If you begin to realize that every moment in your life happens for the greater good of who you are, totally acceptable that can really motivate you to create your unique pathway.

When you discover your purpose, that heart-centered spot you’ll be able to answer the question” How do I pass this on to inspire and encourage someone else?”

The story of YOU is the foundation for building your brand to popularity. The magic that is inside you comes alive with unstoppable power and the customers that are looking for you can’t help but to fall in love with your tell-it-like-it-is style.

Dare to reach one hand into the darkness,

To  pull another hand into the light.

-Norman B. Rice

Must #3- Be Committed

You cannot build a brand without being committed to your followers. It’s like trying to bake a bread without all the ingredients. The bread won’t rise, it will be hard and flat.

To build your brand out there in the marketplace people need to know who you are, where to find you, like you and trust you. A part of creating trust comes from being consistent with how often you have touch points with your followers. It costs more to attract a new customer than it does to keep an old one.

Say What You Do, Do What You Say

Each of your actions or inactions carries significance in someone else’s day.

By being consistent and showing your readers and followers their next step to success is to guide them to check out your ezine for tips and strategies for an invitation to work with you personally. This action show’s you are committed to quality customer service.

The getting to know you stage is the introduction to you and how much access your potential client will have to you. The decision is made by the client to get off the highway, take the off-ramp and do a little sight-seeing. Your client is asking these questions:

1.   “Do I stay”?

2.   “Do I go”?

3.   “How much will it cost me”?

4.   “Will I get results”?

So, of course you want to be a good host, you welcome your customers into the family, answer their concerns, provide healthy food and drinks and as a bonus you provide a value bag of goodies to go. This is what it means to be committed to your customers needs, no matter what.

Build your business brand on your customers not on the bottom line profit.

Must #4- Work Hard, Play Hard!

Designing an online business for the sustainable long haul requires lots of hard work and strengthening muscles you probably haven’t used.

Then there’s figuring out how all the pieces of the internet puzzle pieces fit together. Building your personal brand is going to take a bunch of time at first but it’s worth it to be able to have a business that provides the freedom, time, and lifestyle choices that impacts your family, the world and changes lives.

Just like in life there are seasons in business one travels through. Each season requires a new plan, system, strategy, and new rules to play in the game of business.

To “crush it” means you’re branding yourself as a leader in your niche. It’s easy to love what you do so much that all sense of time passes by.

This is why building a brand around your passion is so important. If you LOVE what you’re doing, then you will enjoy the planning to profits process and actually thrive on pulling the weeds. So, let’s put on our gardening gloves and get ready to plant the seeds in your business garden. Don’t forget to celebrate your hard work!

Must #5 Power-Up your Potential-Become an Expert

How do you stand out from the crowd so you have raving fans that can’t wait to do business with you.?

By putting your heart and soul into learning all you can about your niche. Researching the trends of what is hot or not and listening to what your followers pain is makes you the “Go To Person” that people turn to for information in your industry.

To become an expert in your niche you need to claim your expert status and shout it to the world. The more you know about your topic you’ll be able to design your products and services to add value to your clients.

Experts are always learning. They invest in furthering their education by learning from the best of the best in their field. Experts don’t think twice about the investment of time and money involved when they hire their own mentor or coach. To be on top of your expert game the investment means a ROI of desired outcomes. Your expert status pays for fast track RESULTS, just what your clients benefit from when they work with you.

Experts also play a bigger game by LEVERAGING the talents, skills, knowledge of others and causes that are bigger than themselves.

Must # 6- Be Personable

Heart-centered leaders pay attention to what and when the readers comment on blog posts, emails, twitter or ask to be liked on Facebook. Follow-up is KEY!

We connect in the playground of social media for a reason. It’s about building and nurturing relationships that have a meaning in our lives. A part of building relationships is hanging out together and conversing about the things that matter. With technology changing the way our world does business one could easily be one phone call from the president of the United States.  Being personable means having a lifeline to people of influence who are world changers.

The brands that GIVE, GIVE, GIVE that personal touch and show a genuine concern for all humanity make it possible for all players to WIN at the game of life and leave no one left out. People are attracted to people that are enthusiastic and walk the talk.

When you give of yourself to others your blessing comes back and multiplies in ways that are not seen or felt. Windows and doors open with opportunities, relationships flourish, and everyone WINS.

Only ONE idea, ONE step, ONE voice, ONE business, ONE determined UNSTOPPABLE leader can change the course of the world. Is that YOU!

Must #7- Be a Legacy Leader

In these economic times people take for granted that our world will be here forever. Too many people world-wide are suffering with no food, water, refrigerator, bed to sleep on, or a place to call home. Even with a planet full of suffering there is a crisis of too much greed and a lack of stewardship of the wealth.

While the world is taking of our natural resources faster than they can be replenished there is the power in ONE that we can all participate. Look around where you live and see if someone needs a smile, a kind deed, conversation, a laugh, or a hand up.

It’s the simple things in life that matter and what people remember about YOU. Some of the best conversations with people I have had in my life have been where there are no words spoken, just being together, being still, and touching each others heart.

What you have to give back to the world someone needs and wants your touch. Won’t you take the moment to care.

If you have been touched by this report I’d love for you to like me and follow me in social media for announcements on upcoming teleseminars, programs, services, and free tips and strategies for unstoppable leaders.

    Hi Raena,

Cindy’s stuff is truly awesome. I remember debating over my brand a couple years ago, and all of these point came up. Be You, Build a brand with Passion and Purpose, Be Committed, Work Hard, Play Hard!, Be Personable, and Be a Legacy Leader. Wow- Too much for me to comment on all of these amazing points, so I will pick one..

My vision of what it means to be a legacy leader is twofold, 1)What will I leave for my children’s children and 2)What impact will my work have on creating more abundance in our world.

    Thanks,

      Hi Dave,

Bravo response David! You have done an outstanding job establishing a solid, stable brand for yourself. A lot of marketers create videos for their blogs. However, one thing you do that stands out is persistence and consistency. You stay with your topic and you present every week and that has really established your brand as “The Follow Your Bliss Guy.” You are definitely filled with passion, purpose, and commitment. Everything you mentioned rings true to your style. Thanks for stopping by and come back again!

Fine article, thanks for sharing it, Raena. Each of the points is a department unto itself. A lot for a solopreneur to handle all at once.
Take each “must” and work it through your business a step at a time. It might take a couple of weeks to work it all through, but I am certain it will be well worth the effort.

  3. I like all of these, but my favorite is the one of becoming an expert in your niche. I love to learn, and then share what I learn, so it’s probably why I resonate so much with this point. Also, the more we learn, the more competent we become. The “likability” factor is only one part of the triangle: the other two would be competence and impeccable standards. Competence is the area I find I want to work the hardest on. (Of course, the other two are a given necessity, especially the standards 🙂

    Hi Raena,

Thanks for sharing Cindy’s comprehensive report…it is filled with a lot of great content.

This is also another great example of the wonderful ideas and information that can be shared when you bring the collective talents of the mastermind to the table.

With the landscape changing and social media being so relevant, for those who brand themselves properly and create their unique selling proposition, they will stand out from the crowd and achieve success.

But, for those that are not authentic, committed and continuously striving to learn their niche, the road will be long and winding.

    Keep inspiring us,
    Marc

      Hi Marc,

Thanks for your commentary. I appreciate your comment about how information and ideas can be shared by being in a Mastermind group. Cindy is a very talented writer and I will be presenting her works from time to time. I have read a lot of article on building your brand and I felt this one was so well done, I couldn’t help but share. Your comment about the changing landscape in social media is profound because the truth is that if an individual or company does not properly build their brand they don’t have chance to achieve success. Also, the “musts” are real because of the competition in the internet marketing industry. The road will never reach success unless, as you mentioned, there is authenticity, commitment, and continuously striving to learn their niche. The marketers “in the know” are pursuing success by following these values in their business.

  6. This is a wonderful list … whenever I see “be you” on a list, I can’t help but cringe because, while this is very true, it’s probably one of the toughest things for anyone new to building an online presence. You’re pulled in so many directions trying to do what the “gurus” say, and follow the lead of those who are already successful, it’s very easy to lose yourself in the process. One of the most awesome moments is when you get to the point of trusting yourself!

      says:

      Hi Marquita,

Thanks for being so loyal. I agree with trusting yourself because if you don’t, other people won’t either. It certainly is an important “must” on the list.

  7. Hello Raena

In this fast changing world it seems as if many people have forgotten, “What they have to give back to the world someone needs and wants their touch.” Life is not about getting it is about giving. Business has a responsibility to give and then it will get. I was taught this by one of my many mentors many years ago. Thanks for this post and reminding us that change can be good when we remember why we are here.

  8. Lots of really good points. All are important but I think #2 Build a brand with Passion and Purpose is most important for me. If you don’t have passion and purpose, the other things don’t work very well.

  11. I needed to read this post. My brand is very weak and I need some cutting edge strategies to build brand awareness, create my community and manage my reputation–especially online. I am all over the place; however, I am not quite as focused and easily identified and described as I need to be.

      Hi Rachael,

Don’t be so hard on yourself! Pick one “must” at a time and work on it. Then when you have mastered it, move on to another. You will be branded successfully in no time!

      Raena Lynn

PS I would very gently suggest to you to change your avatar to a real picture of you. That is one of the first steps to build your brand. People relate to actual pictures rather than logos, sayings, cartoons etc. Sometimes people are cautious of posting their picture for a myriad of reasons. It doesn’t matter what the reason is. The bottom line is if you want to build your brand, start with branding your avatar.

  14. Must #6 – Be Personable

That’s the one I’m working on right now. To respond to the comments on my blog, and to what others have said to me on Facebook… it’s a challenge. It’s much easier for me to wait till the end of the week and do them all in a few hours. But that’s not very personable. Who wants to write a comment on Monday, and have to to wait till the following Sunday or Monday before receiving a response???

Thanks for sharing the article, Raena Lynn. 🙂

      Hi Willena,

It certainly is a challenge to follow up and maintain a reasonably quick response rate for your blog and Facebook. My suggestion is do the best you can. I think if you respond regularly and timely for most of the time, then you have a little cushion time when the need arises. I’ve found that a majority of internet marketers are understanding. I would work towards maintaining a reasonable time lapse. A week is stretching it, so shortening it a bit is more personable. You need to do what works best for you!

    Hi Raena,
What a tight report your mastermind partner Cindi has written here. Thanks for sharing it with us. Yes, there are many teachings out there about branding ourselves but this one is one of the top ones (if not the top) I’ve come across.

My favorite must is #1: Be You. How else to get your message across, show your passion, be personable, and have your purpose aligned with what you are presenting, better than to be You and be your authentic self!

    Thanks again for sharing!

A lot of huge points here but I centered into this one piece:

If you begin to realize that every moment in your life happens for the greater good of who you are, totally acceptable that can really motivate you to create your unique pathway.

When you discover your purpose, that heart-centered spot you’ll be able to answer the question” How do I pass this on to inspire and encourage someone else?”

I have learned that I have to get out of my head and into my heart. I also had to learn the hard way not think of every problem as evidence that I was a victim of my circumstances.

Once I got to a point where I could love what I was doing and sharing what I love, it became a lot easier to continue to build and refine the brand around that!

I completely agree. This is a “heart” business no matter what you are promoting. 17. Not just the keys to a brand but also the keys to both a business and a legacy. Some really fundamental tips here that are easy to forget and even easier to gloss over. Work Hard Play Hard is one I particularly love… if you do not LOVE what you’re doing you will not continue to do it long past the points of exhaustion and insanity after others tell you to quit but you know in your heart it’s right. If that isn’t there, the right foundation isn’t there and the rest will never come together!

I remember when I first joined TSA and it seemed like hundreds were pouring in every day. Then TSA developed the awesome 3-Step Syndication System which increased it’s standards. Then came TSA iWowWe tribe, Blog analysis, TSA Affiliate program etc. That doesn’t include the fact that you create regular plugin reviews, publish a newsletter, and maintain an outstanding blog! The list can go on and on. You get the picture. You are always plugging away and your words are valid because you’ve proven that your hear is in it. Thanks for all you do for us.

  19. Hi, Raena, this is my second visit to this article, because it’s such a good one! Reading this article the second time through, I was struck by the thought of leaving a legacy. I’ve learned that one of the best ways to do that is to truly be a Go Giver to your readers and to your niche. Let’s not limit ourselves to a small circle of influence, but let’s consider being a thought leader and also giving down to help others who are just starting out or learning the ropes. And also, let’s see how we can use our blogs to bless certain causes around the world. For example, Darren Rowse used his influence platform to raise money for causes in Africa.

Far too often leaders in our community talk about how we need to brand ourselves using attraction marketing techniques but they tend to leave out the “how” when it comes to actually getting it done. This article has broken that down quite nicely. Your mastermind group must be a great one to be a member of, I hope one day I can find one that provides that much value to me!!

Again thank you for visiting my site. Cindy really did a fantastic job summarizing the important aspects of Attraction Marketing. I love my Mastermind group and we work together very well. You can’t do this business alone!

    Hi! Raena
I agree with about personal branding, building creditability, and personal relationships with people, before you can sell them any product or service online.

      Hi Leo,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Nothing has really changed that much in marketing from the “old school” to the present. The bottom line of success is to build relationships so you can establish trust. When people trust you, your credibility is established. Personal branding is one of many terms which are labels for the same methods of marketing which have always been used. I appreciate your comment!
