I was attracted to the following article which was written by Julia Stege, MFA.  It’s a great read and profound. By posting it, I followed the request you will find at the end of the article. All of us need to create a strategic attraction plan.

How to Create a Strategic Attraction Marketing Plan TM

By Julia Stege, MFA

I’ve been using this tried and true method for over five years to attract my perfect
customers and the experiences I desire in business as well as in my personal life.
Whatever we want in life is available through the people we attract, whether they
be customers, vendors, business partners, life partners, friends, family, etc. This
plan has helped me to clarify what is perfect for me, what is important to me,
what I want my life to look like. It has helped me to see where I’d been settling
for less from my life and then it has helped me to reset my course to attract
inspiring people who respect and reward me in ways I’d previously never dreamed.
Whenever I experience something is wrong I want to ask, “what would be more
perfect for me?” and get it down in writing.

There is no better time than the present
to reset our course toward the fulfillment of our dreams.

One of the most important relationship in an entrepreneur’s life is our customers.
Therefore, I focus mainly on Strategic Attraction Plan’s for customers. Though I
have plans I’ve already started, I like to create a fresh plan once in a while for that
sense of a new beginning. Sometimes I write my plan in a journal, sometimes just
on a piece of paper folded in half so I have 4 sides to write on, or sometimes I’ll
use my computer. It just depends on what feels right in the moment. Here are
the four questions of the Strategic Attraction PlanTM (SAP) and some instructions
on how to use it. Below that I’m including my new SAP for you as a guide and
inspiration. You can use this plan to attract any relationship. I am using the words
“perfect customers” in my plan below, but if you have another relationship you
want to focus on, insert that relationship instead of “customers.”

1) What are the qualities, characteristics and attributes of my perfect customers?

This is a long list of what I like about my perfect customers, what they’re like,
their personalities, how they treat me, the resources they have, how they find me,
what is important to them, how they act, and so on. I can think of folks I’ve loved
to work with in the past and what I liked about them, or I can think of client
situations gone awry and what I would prefer. What kinds of people have you
always wanted to work with? Describe them here.

2) What makes me and my perfect customers tick?

Another way to put this is, “what is my true life purpose?” When you clarify this
and begin sharing it with others you will realize that your perfect customers have
a mission that is quite aligned with yours if not exactly the same. It is our soul fire
that is the source of our attracting power. When our perfect customers get what
makes us tick, they recognize us and choose us.

3) What do I want my perfect customers to expect from me?
If you have ever felt at the mercy of other people’s expectations, this is your
chance to be proactive and determine what you want others to expect from you.
Write down the offerings you want to deliver, how you want to be perceived, what
you want to achieve, and what you want your days to look like.

4) What am I improving to become more attractive? Who do I have to be to attract this?
For each item under number 3 that you have not yet 100% attracted, write it down
here again. Then ask yourself, “who would I have to be to attract this?” What
word or phrase describes the way you would be if you attracted this? Write it
down next to the item you want to attract. Now go forth and be that quality and
watch as what you desire is drawn to you.

Signs of Land
It is important to take note of what we are attracting on a regular basis. When a
sailor approaches land from sea, there are signs of land long before actual land is
sighted, like certain weather patterns, or particular birds, sea mammals, and plant
life. Similarly when we set course for what we desire in life and business, there
are signs along the way that what we asked for is coming. Perhaps you asked for
clients who are fun and someone calls from a game company, or you have asked
for a more spiritual experience of business and you attract an inspiring teacher as
a client. Taking note of these “signs of land” will help you to acknowledge your
progress and flow toward the realization of your dreams.

My “Perfect Customers” SAP

read my answers, think about what you want in your perfect customers, and feel
free to steal any of my ideas here.

Great post. #4 is really a great one. What are we improving in order to attract what we want. That is always a challenge but in a good way. Constant improvement is a requirement I believe in order to achieve the maximum of what we want in our lives.

  4. Loren Greig says:

    Hi Raena Lynn,

“…there is no better time than the present to reset our course toward the fulfillment of our dreams” … powerful words. Thank you for sharing Julia Stege’s article, and your article, with us all.

I concur that “one of the most important relationships in our life as entrepreneurs is that which we have with our customers”; and, the four questions posed are important to always be considering when we look for our ideal customers:

    1) What are the qualities, characteristics and attributes of my perfect customer?
    2) What makes me and my perfect customer “tick”; what is my true life purpose?
    3) What do I want my perfect customer to expect from me?
    4) What am I improving to become more attractive?

Very different from “who is” my ideal customer, when we ask about the qualities, we are also identifying and verifying our own qualities and attributes. These values are aligned with the type of customers we expect to attract.

It’s interesting that we are always in attraction mode and that our true purpose in life, one which we are very passionate about, is the “soul fire at the source of our attracting power.” What we offer, deliver and how we are perceived are all intimately connected to our “soul fire”. We are already the quality that we are improving on and can continue to adjust and improve upon; and, we attract on a regular basis that which is needed.

Awesome post… inspiring and though provoking! Thanks again, Raena Lynn!

      Hi Loren,

What a magnificent summary you have created here! I am a true believer in attraction marketing, as I know you are too. I love the concept because everybody wins! We as entrepreneurs, as you stated, can pursue our mission and purpose and life comfortably and honestly. In turn we have the opportunity to share, help, bond, and build relationships with those with the qualities and attributes which align with us and create a two way attraction. This is the pure beauty of attraction marketing.

Julia Stege is an expert in attraction marketing and someone who I admire and respect. I provided her web site if you are interested in pursuing her teachings. Thanks Loren!

  5. Raena,
your a great mentor and leader in our industry.

I agree, with being transparent and supportive to all our customers. Providing that extra effort to make sure their questions are answered in a timely manner. Being available by different methods of communications.

Having the continued focus on improving relationships with your clients. There are always different way one can improve. Not being afraid to ask the client if there is anything you can do to help in the future with communication and availability.

Following up with each customer. Keeping a record of their wants and purchases. This will help with a profile on each one. Then you would understand their buying habits. This will also include issuing appreciation cards during holidays, and birthdays.

That is why it is so important to develop a real relationship with each client. Being real and supportive without thinking of selling all the time. Sometime you must just listen to comfort them.

Raena, just another fantastic blog subject. I love your site and now learned how to navigate various areas that have my main interest. Thank you for sharing and I look forward in my next visit.

  6. I really liked going over the qualities and attributes of the perfect customer for my business. I’ve been mulling this over for a few days now, so it’s nice to see this article here on your blog. I made the decision recently that I am no longer willing to work with just anyone. Some people will be a great customer or business partner, and others just won’t for myriad reasons.

This article confirmed my thinking, and I’m glad I read it today….right when I needed it!

      Hi Christi,

I agree with “Some people will be a great customer or business partner, and others just won’t for myriad reasons.” All I can say to that is I know exactly what you mean by myriad reasons.
