My Favorite Posts Of The Week March 16-22, 2011

Spread the love

I will be posting my favorites of the week every Wednesday.

I have big dreams for my blog, and I need time to develop it so I decided to post one  or two of my favorite responses to other friends called My Favorite Posts Of The Week! I think this will cause me to write quality posts and I can share with more friends!

I can only give a short commentary to what I’m responding to. This is just a little experiment so I’ll see how it goes.

1)My response to watching a Disney video on The Coolest Couple’s blog using the idea of reuse, repurpose, and repackage:

Hi Pat and Lorna,

Wow! That was so interesting and fun to watch. Of course I’m in the generation that “grew up” with Disney, and as I watched the video, I never put it together, but it’s almost as if I subconsciously knew that they were up to something! It’s brilliant and to be able to do it without most people noticing the obvious amazes me.

The idea of reuse, repurpose, and repackage is a great concept which I’ve used unintentionally without knowing I was doing it! So once something is beautifully created, why go back and either mess it up or ignore it forever? This is a great concept to keep in mind for blogging. I really appreciated your video, and yes I recognized every Disney movie presented. I know that sounds strange, but I’ll bet there are many kids out there who haven’t seen all of the Disney classics. Watching anything Disney always reminds me how fortunate I am to have grown up in an awesome generation. Only the baby boomers will get that one!

Here’s an example of reuse, repurpose, and repackage. I’m new to TSA, and I’ve just met Pat and Lorna last week. I visited their YouTube channel and came across Jimmy Kimmel Twitter War With Pat and Lorna. This “war” was 9 months ago, but it is new to me and so fun, why not launch it again! Jimmy talks about the ongoing Twitter battle with the supposed coolest couple online, Pat and Lorna. It definitely hit my funny bone! There is a video post on “The Coolest Couple” blog, or you can go to YouTube, and type in Pat and Lorna (The Coolest Couple) Update with Jimmy Kimmel. A comment from the video which I thought was great is, “The funniest thing is Jimmy saying, “Whenever I mention them they seem to get more followers” – That’s the power of a Tribe!” As of today, March, 16, 2011, Jimmy Kimmel has 73,886 followers and Pat and Lorna have 78,000 (give or take a few). Pat and Lorna wins…haha

Okay so it’s 9 months later and things have changed, but it’s all new to the people who didn’t see it, read it, or view it the first time!

Gavin did an awesome video tutorial on creating an email signature and this is what I made! Thanks Gavin!

Hey Gavin,

I watched both videos and it took a little while to get it done, but when I followed, copied, pasted, Ctrl v’d, previewed etc., I  hit the compose button in Gmail and voila! It worked! I noticed that once it’s done and Wise Stamp is in your browser, the right click commands will also Ctrl v the signature.

Since I’ve never used WiseStamp before, I want to note that when you are a new user and you hit the Social Icons Tab and/or the IM Icons Tab, there are four icon pics listed with a field for typing in the target URL. Be sure to hit the down arrow by each icon to open up a long list of services. At first I thought because I am using a free version of WiseStamp, that there is a limited list of services. This is not true! Hit the little down arrow and you will see what I mean! It’s an awesome little tool. Thanks so much Gavin. You’re the man!

  1. Hi Raena,

Great example of using the strategy of Reuse, Repurpose, and Repackage by creating your “My Favorite Posts Of The Week!”

We think you might be on to something here. We’ll be checking back to see how this is working for you.

Great job and thanks for sharing,

      Hi Pat & Lorna,

I’m hope it was okay for me to spotlight your post. I’m thinking maybe I should include the post I’m responding too, but I think it is better if I direct readers back to the post I’m responding too because that way it becomes a personal direct to your site. I will be visiting soon because I must comment on Lorna’s “fitness” video! Woooooooo Unbelievable!

  2. Hi Raena ~ Very thorough responses 🙂 It is creative of you to take this approach (even if it’s merely an experiment at this point), and therefore am curious to see where this may lead for you and your blog posts. I have no doubt that b/c you are being proactive and have made this decision and taking a step forward, that you will succeed in your goal to “write quality posts that you can share with more friends”. I look forward to seeing your future posts 😉 Christine

      Thank you Christine!

I feel honored to receive such kind words from someone of your caliber in this business. I hope it’s okay to say, but I’ve noticed you are the leader in the top group this week in TSA way ahead of everybody! Great job! I have to give you a compliment because from a prior post, you mentioned you have been a member of TSA for a year and your performance after that amount of time shows that you either 1) You are passionate about your work, (which I think is the correct answer) or 2) You have a lot of stamina..haha. I think most people lose their steam after a while, if they are not receiving something in return, either personally or financially. Those who are able to maintain a high level of performance do it because they are passionate and love what they are doing and are receiving the personal and financial benefits!

I’ve also noticed during my second week of TSA the people who work hard to create posts and blogs that are high in content and value. Your responses are great examples of how good quality posts should be written. I see you around and I enjoy your posts. I’m looking forward to future connections.

  3. Hey there Raena; this is a great little experiment that you’re doing, and I have no doubt that you will find it to be very beneficial to you and the success of your blog.

I believe you’ll find some great reciprocity benefits to this strategy, because when you pro actively lift others up, it is a common response for them to return the love. Again; I believe this is a great experiment and I look forward to see how this blossoms as you continue.

    Thanks again for sharing Raena

      Hi Joe,

I appreciate your comments. It’s interesting that many of the comments refers to this approac as a strategy. I suppose it is, but when I decided to do this, it was because I felt that there’s great content out there and I simply wanted to share a little with others.

  4. Hi there Raena,
It is my posting day today, Monday. So I was pretty encouraged to see your ingenuity at work here….at least one day a week you have a topic to blog on…you are also networking with top bloggers at the same time.
    Excellent thinking.

    Well done

      Hi Peter,

Thanks for stopping by. As I mentioned to Scott, I will be posting these on Wednesdays, but I will post be sure to post my own content before syndication so I have fresh material to share with everyone!

    Hey Raena!

Keep up the great work. It is a big misnomer to believe that YOU and YOU alone have to be the one to come up with all the content and things to write about on your blog. Your post is a great example. if you see something good out there then share it with the community. Thumbs up to you on taking action.
I look forward to watching your blog EXPLODE! (I mean that in a good way)
